The only four shades you need to get the classic look
Backstage, the pros can make a smoky eye out of just about anything—a single eyeliner pencil, bronzer applied with a wet brush, lipstick—but for those of us who haven't reached the AP-level of makeup application and want classic, never-fail, sooty, smoky, multi-dimensional eyes, it's best to take a paint-by-numbers approach. That's where the new Dolce&Gabbana shadow quad comes in; it has the four essential smoky eye shades—no more, no less. The shimmery gold and silver shades both work as all-over highlighters, depending on whether you're going for a warm or cool finish, but still have enough power to peek out under the dark shades, then the taupe-gray shade goes across the lid and the almost-black one gets blended and diffused along the crease, in the corners and to the ends of the brows. It's one of those rare, free-of-any-trendy-shades shadow palettes that every woman should own (along with a red lipstick, of course).
